Reports are written anonymously by seafarers sharing their personal experiences. They are opinions and recollections, not verified facts, and they reflect only the situation of the person who submitted them.
Experiences vary — a lot
Two seafarers can have completely different experiences with the same company. What you read may differ from reality depending on the:
- Vessel — ships within the same company differ widely.
- Fleet — tankers, bulkers, container and other fleets are run differently.
- Manning office — the office that hires you affects pay, relief and treatment.
- Time period — conditions change from year to year and contract to contract.
- Rank — life onboard differs greatly between ratings and officers.
We do not verify every report
Sailor's Reality does not independently confirm the accuracy of submissions. We moderate for spam and abuse and merge duplicate companies, but we cannot guarantee that any individual report is true, complete, or current.
Data can become outdated
Salary, promotion timelines, relief reliability and other figures may reflect older contracts. Company policies, ownership, and management can change without warning, which can quickly make past reports inaccurate. Confidence levels and report counts are there to help you judge how much weight to give the data — fewer reports means less certainty.
Do not rely on this platform alone
